The Candidates fulfilled the distributional requirements, with many having multiple possible applicable categories. Seats were assigned based on the algorithm from the by-laws (Section 3.3.3.2D) and the Elections Packet. In cases where there were more candidates than specified for a given category, candidates who received the most votes were assigned that category, and those receiving the least votes were assigned an “open” seat. For example, if Candidate X chose to identify primarily as a renter, they might win one of the Open seats if they won fewer votes than 5 others who identified themselves as renters. This doesn’t mean a board member in a given seat is limited to voting or speaking solely from that category’s perspective. Board members should speak to their multitude of perspectives and experiences in the community.
