Somerville Planning Board Meeting

Thursday, April 4, 2019

Important Note

The planning board is accepting written comments on the application of master developer, US2, described in the presentation they made at this hearing at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. until noon on Friday, April 19th.  If the US2 plan is approved, not much stands in the way of development of the remainder of the parcel along the lines of what has been described at several public presentations by US2 during the past year or so.  It would preclude the possibility of development along the lines of what has been presented in an alternate design, which calls for underground parking on the site, rather than the multi-storey parking garage proposed by US2 for the southeast corner of the D2 lot.

For more detail on what took place during the meeting on the 4th, please see the resource page now under construction, which provides a summary of what was said at the meeting that may make easier the job of viewing the video.

Description

This meeting of the Somerville Planning Board featured a discussion of development on the D2.1 parcel in Union Square, particularly as regards the proposed lab building on the corner of Somerville Ave. and Prospect St.  Members of the public spoke regarding various aspects of the plan, especially the question of whether underground parking is preferable to erecting a multi-storey parking garage.
