US2 / USNC CBA Negotiations Update Presentation

Tuesday, December 11, 2018

US2 and the Union Square Neighborhood Council will each give substantive updates on progress in the negotiations for a CBA to the Board of Aldermen Finance Committee on Tuesday December 11 at 6pm in the Aldermanic Chambers at Somerville City Hall. The meeting agenda is here. There will also be an agenda item on the role of the Federal Government's designation of Union Square as an "Opportunity Zone," as part of the Federal tax-cut program.

The USNC Board and Negotiations Committee will hold a large membership meeting about the status of negotiations early in 2019. There will be no December 15 meeting, as it has been postponed in an effort to turn people out to the BOA Finance Committee meeting this Tuesday.

This article from the front page of the Boston Globe summarizes the state of affairs in Union Square, with quotes from USNC Board Co-Chair Bill Cavellini, Alderman Ewen-Campen, US2, Somerville Community Corporation, Somerville OSPCD and more.

There will be a community referendum on USNC's proposed permanent bylaws on or before January 5. The next election for the USNC Board will take place on or before February 3. USNC is seeking volunteers for the Elections Committee to elect the Board. Contact Rachel Weil (This email address is being protected from spambots.
